By August 10, 2022No Comments
SAT 29 OCTOBER 2022 + WED 19 APRIL 2023
THE RECITAL HALL at FIRSTONTARIO PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

Back (to stay) by popular demand! A special music showcase of local emerging and established Indigenous musicians making waves on the scene, curated by Celebration of Nations Artistic Director Michele-Elise Burnett and local artist/ producer Jill Lunn. Join us and experience the passion of these artists and support Indigenous creativity and expression. October Artists TBA. Presented in partnership the Gord Downie Chanie Wenjack Fund.

April’s showcase will feature Twin Flames, a powerful voice in the Indigenous renaissance. They are Jaaji (Inuk from Nunaivik and Mohawk Kanien’kehá:ka from Kahnawake) and Chelsey June, Indigenous (Métis, Algonquin, Cree heritage) from Ottawa. Their cultural backgrounds span Canada’s geography and their songs, delivered through a mix of English, French and Inuttitut, have helped them earn a unique place among contemporary music makers from coast to coast to coast. Their humour on stage serves as welcome comedic relief when discussing tougher issues. They possess impeccable storytelling skills and allow audiences to feel a truly human connection.
