Making a Treaty: A core Indigenous ethic is a reciprocity in relation to all of creation – take only what you need and always give back. This activity is designed to explore this notion while balancing the delicate struggle of living nation to nation. Treaties are made for land, for resources, for peace. A treaty can be made to find common ground between groups. In this module, the participants are split into two sides: the bears and the salmon.

Nigel Irwin

Nigel Irwin is a singer-songwriter from Niagara, who has been releasing music since 2015. Irwin discovered his craft playing in the Toronto open-mic scene and has since left his folky beginnings for larger pop ambitions. With his recent single ‘Reconcile’, Irwin has found a way to bring his Cree heritage into his lyrics, singing about his struggles with being mixed-native in an age of reconciliation. The Irwin Songbook is an ever-growing collection of tunes with sounds ranging from jazz to electronic, low-fi hip-hop to sixties rock. Nothing is off the table.
